EMERGENCY TREATMENT
If you have a toothache or are experiencing a dental emergency, we are here to help! We understand that a dental emergency can disrupt your life and cause unnecessary pain and stress, so we always try to see our patients in for an appointment as soon as possible and to relieve any discomfort the same day. Dental emergencies can happen to patients of all ages and at the most inconvenient times, and at Tranquilo Dental we have weekend and evening hours to accommodate our patients.
PREVENTATIVE TREATMENT
Routine dental exams are important in maintaining healthy teeth and gums. In addition, they help avoid the financial costs associated with more complex treatment plans later on. The Academy of General Dentistry recommends two yearly checkups for people of all ages. At Tranquilo Dental, we are happy to serve the whole family by treating both children and adults.
At your checkup, you will start with diagnostic digital x-rays. The dentist will complete an Oral Cancer Screening - this will check for any abnormalities on your face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, or gums. She will also examine your mouth for any cracked or decayed teeth, evaluate existing restorations, and assess your gums for any evidence of gingivitis or periodontal disease.
FILLINGS
Fillings helps treat teeth damaged by decay. They allow the teeth to be restored back to normal function and shape while preventing further decay. It's one of the most common procedures that takes place in the dental office.
Before filling cavities, your dentist will numb your teeth and gums to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. Next, she will remove the decay in the tooth and replace it with either a tooth-colored composite filling or a silver-colored amalgam filling. Once you're done, your mouth will remain numb for a few hours.
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
A root canal or an endodontic treatment is a dental procedure required when a tooth's pulp becomes infected, abscessed, severely decayed, or injured. Often times, bacteria from deep decay can reach the pulp and infect it, however, trauma can also cause this inflammation and injury.
If left untreated, a root canal infection can cause complications including swelling, tooth loss, or infection spreading to the face or neck. Root canal treatment preserves your tooth, relieves your pain, and can potentially prevent a dental emergency.
EXTRACTIONS
Common reasons for oral surgery or dental extractions include severe tooth decay or infection that make it impossible to save the tooth, advanced gum disease, orthodontic treatment to allow space for tooth movement, and are commonly recommended at an early age for wisdom teeth.
Whatever the reason, at Tranquilo Dental we will fully explain your upcoming procedure so that you understand all that is involved. We strive to provide you with a safe, comfortable experience when needed.
PORCELAIN CROWNS & BRIDGES
Natural-looking full porcelain crowns, also known as caps, can repair chipped or decayed teeth when a filling is unable to provide the necessary support to protect the tooth.
A porcelain bridge is a false tooth that is used to fill the space created by a missing tooth. Porcelain bridges use the two surrounding teeth as anchors to hold a false tooth in the place where the missing tooth is. Typically, porcelain crowns are placed over the surrounding teeth, and the false tooth, known as a pontic, is fused between them. Bridges are permanent, non-removeable option for replacing missing teeth.
